Who We Are
Hi, hello! My name is Kay Young, your new favorite Dyslexic Author! I've been writing a fantasy light novel series for go on six years now and it's honestly been a HUGE hassle trying to find a publishing company that was willing to give me the time of day. And clearly, I've had no luck. But I never lost hope, I haven't given up yet, and like every anime and manga protagonist, I have a stubborn streak. So with that being said, I set out to make my own publishing company, enter: Studio Avalon, LLC!
We are a black owned publishing house that specializes in fantastical storytelling, blending the everyday struggles of identifying as a Black American in modern day with the esoteric wonders of mystisism and the supernatural. My goal with creating this publishing company is to be the mouthpiece for those black authors out there that want to have their books traditionally published, but continue to get rejected by agents and other publishers. It doesn't stop there, I have a secondary goal of creating my own black Shonen Jump magazine called "Weekly SHOW'EM REACH."
I'm looking to work with 46 creators, from ManAaka and authors, to marketers and website builders for this collaborative project and no one creator has more work than the next. The goal is to create a self-sufficient writing/manga community that holds us all accountable. With being a part of the collaborative group, you'll have full creative control over your work, the only thing I ask is you adhere to deadlines as the magazine will be a monthly publication. We will also need to have regular meetings to discuss formatting, guidelines and standards, censorship, ethics and business development, etc.
I'd like to work with about 46 different mangaka and authors and highlight your stories in the magazine, these 46 would be Weekly Showem's "Flagship Authors," writers and artists that were featured in Studio Avalon, LLC's first issue of Weekly Showem. The other spots will be needed for the behind the scenes of the magazine, I'm talking about the marketing and interviewers, stuff like that. I want to have the creators involved in this project to have the chance to talk about their work in an interview setting as well as give their thoughts on the development of their stories.
If I hadn't lost you yet and still interested in joining, by all means submit your information! I anticipate your submission and look forward working with you all!
